ODNR Chief to Address Regional Chamber Event
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- James Zehringer, director of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, which regulates the oil and gas industry in Ohio, will be the guest speaker at a Regional Chamber Government Affairs Council luncheon Jan. 16.
The luncheon will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ciminero’s Banquet Centre, 123 N. Main St, Niles.
Zehringer was named ODNR director by Gov. John Kasich in November 2011. He has said that the regulation of dangerous wild animals, environmentally safe development of shale in Ohio, and finding solutions to reduce phosphorous in the state’s waterways are key priorities for his department.

Before taking over as ODNR chief, he served as director of the Ohio Department of Agriculture. Zehringer is the former owner of the Meiring Poultry and Fish Farm in Fort Recovery, which received several awards for outstanding environmental practices. He also served as a state representative for the 77th House District and as a Mercer County (Ohio) commissioner.
Cost of the luncheon is $20 for chamber members and $30 for nonmembers.
