Nominations Sought for National Philanthropy Day
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Mahoning-Shenango chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals is accepting nominations for the 2013 National Philanthropy Day Awards.
This year’s luncheon ceremony will mark the 23rd year of the awards in the Valley. It is set for Nov. 15 at Antone’s Banquet Center in Boardman.
To be eligible for consideration, nominees must reside in Mahoning, Trumbull or Columbiana counties in Ohio or in Mercer or Lawrence counties in Pennsylvania. Nomination forms and expanded descriptions of the criteria for each award are available at the website below. Nominations are due by Aug. 1.
Members of the community are encouraged to nomoinate deserving people in these categories:
- Outstanding Philanthropist (individual or family).
- Outstanding Corporate Philanthropist (corporation or corporate foundation).
- Outstanding Small-Business Philanthropist (100 of fewer employees).
- Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser (individual or small group).
- Outstanding Civic Organization (civic volunteer group).
- Outstanding Young Philanthropist (individual or group with 10 or fewer members).
- Legacy Award (presented in conjunction with The Mahoning/Shenango Planned Giving Council posthumously to and individual or family).

The Association of Fundraising Professionals represents more than 27,000 members in 180 chapters in the United States, Canada, Mexico and China who work to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs. The Mahoning/Shenango chapter consists of 60 members who are active fundraising professionals for nonprofit organizations, schools and hospitals.
