Nominations Open for 2014 '25 Under 35' Awards
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Nominations are now being accepted for the annual 25 Under 35 Awards, sponsored by the Mahoning Valley Young Professionals and the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley.
Previously known as the 40 Under 40 Awards, the 25 Under 35 Awards, now in its second year, was established to honor the Mahoning Valley’s best and brightest young professionals. Honorees will be recognized at an awards ceremony Feb. 13 at Stambaugh Auditorium. Three of the honorees will be distinguished for special accolades as MVP Award winners. The 25 honorees and top three are selected by a committee, formed by the Community Foundation, with criteria based on professional and service categories.
“The 2013 event was so successful that I cannot wait to see what is in store for 2014. This truly features the great work young professionals are doing in their career and in the community. I am very excited to meet the class of 2014 in a few months,” said Lori Shandor, 25 Under 35 chair and MVYP president.
“Now in our ninth year of sponsorship, the Community Foundation is proud to once again be a part of this important event. We look forward to highlighting the accomplishments of our Valley’s young professionals who are the driving force behind every vibrant community,” said Julie Scarsella, CFMV vice president.
Nominees must be between the ages of 21 and 35 -- and may not exceed age 35 years as of on Aug. 2. Nominees must live and/or work primarily in Columbiana, Mahoning, or Trumbull County. Applications for the 25 Under 35 Awards are now available at the websites of MVYP and the Community Foundation.
The event coincides with MVYP’s primary fund-raising effort, the Young Philanthropist Fund. The fund was created through the partnership Community Foundation and MVYP, then known as the MVP 20/30 Club. The fund was established to introduce younger generations to philanthropy by fund-raising, analysis of grant requests, site visits to nonprofits, and recommendation of grants to be awarded.
