Manufacturers Info Event Set for April 19
CANFIELD, Ohio –- Employers engaged in manufacturing and looking to increase productivity and identify qualified employees are invited to attend a free informational session April 19 at the Mahoning County Career & Technical Center.
Hosts are the Mahoning Valley Manufacturing Coalition and the Advanced Materials & Diversified Manufacturing Industry Partnership of Mercer and Lawrence Counties.
The event, held in conjunction with Oh-Penn, is holding the free session from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 19, said Eric Karmecy, manager of the Oh-Penn Pathways to Competitiveness project.
The meeting is intended to inform the owners of manufacturing companies how they can reduce turnover in their workforces, improve retention, improve production, increase productivity, make better promotion decisions, reduce the time it takes to train employees, improve workplace safety and turn out a higher-quality product, Karmecy says.
Consultants and business owners from The Manufacturing Coalition will share their experiences about strategies that worked for them. These include ACT Work Keys and earning the National Career Readiness credential.
The ACT Work Keys and the National Career Readiness Credential help employers identify candidates and validates their skills to perform the job or be promoted, says Jessica Borza, executive director of the coalition. These tools also set or reinforce hiring practice standards and make job applications more objective, increase their return on investment, better measure their costs of doing business and save on their human resources expense.
While the session is free, reservations are required. Email Sue Watson at [email protected] or telephone her at 330 307 3399.
