Local Toastmasters to Host Open House
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Executive 408 Toastmasters is inviting area residents to an open house Jan. 18 at Shepherd of the Valley on Western Reserve Road in Beaver Township. Special guest speaker Roy Thomas, master fitness trainer, will talk about the importance of communication skills for today's professionals.
The event, which is free to the public, will take place from 6:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
Other speakers include:
- Doug Rice, who will give an overview of the history of Toastmasters.
- Dena DeLuco, master hypnotherapist, who will give an inspirational speech on how to turn fear into excitement.
After hearing from Thomas, members and guests will enjoy a regular Toastmasters meeting that will include prepared speeches, "Table Topics" (impromptu speeches) and evaluations.
Club member Alan Deeley, who has served in various club positions, will serve as toastmaster for the evening. Charles Kramer, Toastmasters area governor, will be the Table Topics master.
“Table Topics are one of my favorite parts of the meeting,” Deeley said. “This is where guests and members are randomly selected to speak for one to two minutes. It helps you think and speak clearly on your feet.”
“Executive 408 Toastmasters provides a supportive and positive environment where members have the opportunity to develop their communication and leadership skills,” says Mark Williams, club president.
Toastmasters Executive 408 meets every Monday at 6:45 p.m. at Shepherd of the Valley. For more information about this event and the club, visit this website.
