Literary Society Hosts Best-Selling Author
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Jessica Fellowes, author and freelance journalist, will join guests at a reception and dinner at 7 p.m. Oct. 1 at Stambaugh Auditorium. She is the author of The World of Downton Abbey and its sequel, The Chronicles of Downton Abbey.
Fellowes is a niece of Julian Fellowes, creator of the hit TV series.
The evening marks the 10th Literary Society Author Event of the Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County.
In the coourse of Fellowes's work for the Downton Abbey books. She conducted considerable research into the social history of the early 20th century, particularly the changes that women experienced. She also drew conclusions about the advances in technology of that period and how most people feel about the recent advances in technology.
Fellowes started as a reporter at the Mail on Sunday, going on to become deputy editor of Country Life magazine, before deciding to focus on books. She has co-written The Devil You Know: Looking Out for the Psycho in Your Life, with forensic psychologist Kerry Daynes, and Build A Business From Your Kitchen Table. Her first book was Mud & the City: Do’s and Don'ts for Townies in the Country.
Literary Society sponsors include Denise DeBartolo York, The Frank & Pearl Gelbman Charitable Trust – Huntington Bank Trust, Ed and Chris Muransky, Drs. The doors will open at 6 p.m., and a reception and cocktails will take place from 6. to 7 p.m. The author presentation and book signing is scheduled for 8:15 to 9 p.m. The admission price of $65 includes dinner and a free copy of The World of Downton Abbey, and music will be provided by the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra.
