Lane Hosts Session on Prepaid Funerals Tonight
BOARDMAN, Ohio -- Prompted by reportage of unscrupulous funeral home operators embezzling prepaid funeral funds, Lane Family Funeral Homes is sponsoring a free information session at 7 p.m. tonight on the rights consumers have about planning their funerals well in advance on need.
The session, "How do you know which funeral home to trust?” will be held at Lane Family Funeral Homes Reception/Event Center in Boardman, a block north of the Boardman YMCA.
Among those scheduled to speak are:
- Scott Gilligan, counsel to the Ohio Funeral Directors Association.
- Kenn Peterson, regional director, Homesteaders Life Insurance Co.
- Robert Rusu, past president of the Mahoning County Bar Association.
Guests will have the opportunity to ask questions.
Topics the speakers willtouch on are "How safe are prepaid funeral funds today?" "Under Ohio law, what happens to your money?" "What is the correct process in securing a prearranged funeral?"
