'Jenny's Wedding' Begins Shooting Monday in Cleveland
CLEVELAND -- The Greater Cleveland Film Commission announced Thursday that "Jenny's Wedding" will begin shooting Monday in the city Oct. 28. Emmy-winner and Golden Globe nominee Katherine Heigl, two-time Oscar nominee Tom Wilkinson, two-time Tony Award nominee Linda Emond and Grace Gummer are set to star in the movie.
Mary Agnes Donahue wrote, is co-producing and will direct the film. The other producers are Gail Levin and MM Productions' Michelle Manning.
"Jenny's Wedding" revolves around Jenny (Heigl), who causes a sea change in the lives of her closely knit, highly conventional family when she finally decides to marry. Because she is pretty and charming woman, everyone is baffled by Jenny's lack of a love life and her parents (Wilkinson and Emond) have been particularly anxious for her to settle down.
Whan at long last the announcement comes that she will wed, her choice of a mate tears the family apart. To reconnect, everyone, including Jenny, must reinvent himself.
It has been a very busy year for the Greater Cleveland Film Commission, with other recent projects "Draft Day," "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Miss Meadows" choosing Cleveland for all or most of their productions, says Ivan Schwarz, president of the commission. "Cleveland is resonating within the film industry and we are thrilled that the local workforce has been very busy this year through multiple productions," he said in a prepared statement. "Cleveland is really becoming a great place to make a movie."
Some 900 full-time equivalent jobs in Ohio and $176 million in economic impact were estimated as a result of the 27 projects that took advantage of the Ohio Motion Picture tax credit since its inception in 2009, a Cleveland State University study found. The tax incentive returned $1.20 into the Ohio economy for every $1 awarded by the incentive.
