YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – As part of Autisn Awareness Month, the Mahoning Valley office of the Autism Society of Ohio is collaborating with the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber to offer a Business Training Institute workshop on customized employment, ways that employers can integrate adults with disabilities into the workforce.
The keynote speaker for the event, which is scheduled for 7:30-9 a.m. April 24 in the Community Room of the Covelli Centre, will be Chris Filler, program director for the Lifespan Transitions Center, Ohio Center for Autism and Low Incidence in Columbus. She will explain how individual talents are being identified and developed in individuals with disabilities.
The program will also feature Connie Morris, Connie Morris, education director of Warren’s Creative Learning Workshop, and Nancy Kropolinsky, vocational coordinator at Mahoning County Educational Service Center, who will discuss how potential employees are matched with the "right fit" of employment. They will also discuss the supports available to create and sustain successful employment outcomes for employers and employees.
Additionally, employers and employees with disabilities currently putting this theory to practice also will speak and share their perspective.
