YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Canfield Area Council of the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber is seeking nominations for the Canfield Business Pride Award and the Spirit of Canfield Award. Both awards will be presented during the Good Morning, Canfield program scheduled for April 4.
The Canfield Business Pride Award was created 10 years ago to recognize businesses that exemplify ethical, moral and professional standards in their workplace and have visibly contributed to Canfield's development. Companies are evaluated on business ethics and professionalism, longevity and potential for growth, community outreach, physical plant, investment and commitment to Canfield and respectability as an employer
Past recipients include Peaberry’s Café & Bakery; Scarsella Furniture; Edward Jones Investments financial advisor and property owner Byron Abrigg; Multimedia Farms; Mahoning County Agricultural Society/Canfield Fair; Naffah Hospitality Inc.; Schrodel, Scullin and Bestic; Harley Davidson; and Farmers National Bank.
The nomination form may be accessed in the Member Resources/Events section of the chamber’s website.
The council also will present its Spirit of Canfield Award in 2014 at the April 4 event. This award is given to an individual and focuses on his/her overall contributions to the city and township, rather than exclusively on business contributions. The criteria for this award include community involvement, involvement in the Canfield Schools and business accomplishments/promotion of business. Past recipients include former mayor Bill Kay, Jim Duncan and Mark Scheel.
While there isn’t a formal nomination form, the Canfield Area Council is seeking nominations from the public on a deserving individual who is active in the three key areas, with specific information/examples of each. Information may be sent to Kim Calvert at 11 Central Square, Suite 1600, Youngstown, OH 44503 or via email.
