Camp Fitch Seeks Alumni Memories for Centennial
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The year 2014 will mark the 100th anniversary of the Camp Fitch YMCA, part of the YMCA of Youngstown. To mark this milestone in the camp’s history, a committee has been formed to organize special events in Youngstown and at camp, says the camp's executive director, Brian Rupe.
With the theme of Finding The Way Back, the anniversary celebration will begin on March 29 with a special kickoff event to be held at the Tyler Historical Center on West Federal Street in Youngstown. Rupe says additional events are in the planning stages including a special three-day celebration at Camp Fitch Aug. 8-10, 2014.
All Camp Fitch alumni are invited to attend the events, he says. Celebration information will be updated regularly at the camp's website, CampFitchYMCA.org. The committee is requesting and encouraging alumni to share their camp memories for the celebration by emailing them to Jill Campbell at [email protected].
The 450-acre Camp Fitch YMCA sits on a one-mile stretch of Lake Erie coastline in North Springfield, Pa. In addition to offering seven weeks of summer-camp activities that include swimming, boating, horseback riding, sports, and many other outdoor activities, Camp Fitch provides year-around programs for schools and other organizations.
