Butler Seeks Travelers for Philly Art Tour
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Spots remain available for a four-day cultural excursion to Philadelphia and the Brandywine River Museum in Chadds Ford, Pa., scheduled to take place April 24-27.
The itinerary for the trip, presented by the Butler Institute of American Art with Burger Travel of Youngstown, will include the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the nation’s first museum and school of fine arts, which features works by American masters Rembrandt Peale, Benjamin West, Thomas Eakins, Cecilia Beaux, William Glackens, John Sloan and Everett Shinn. The tour also includes a visit to the Rodin Museum, home to the largest collection of works outside of Paris by sculptor Pierre Auguste Rodin.
Additionally, the tour will visit the Philadelphia Museum of Art, one of the largest museums in the United States, with a collection that exceeds 225,000 objects; the Brandywine River Museum, distinguished for its collection of works by three generations of the Wyeth family, which will feature a tour of N. C. Wyeth and Andrew Wyeth studios specially designed for the Butler group by Wyeth curators; and a private tour of the celebrated Barnes Collection, set for private museum hours.
