Best of Ashtabula County Finalists Announced
ASHTABULA, Ohio -- The Growth Partnership for Ashtabula County will host the 26th Annual Best of the County Awards at 5 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Sprire Institute in Geneva.
The event will recognize finalists in five categories and one winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Businesses were nominated and evaluated based on criteria such as employment growth, capital investment, product development, system/process innovation and overall economic impact.
Award categories and the finalists in each category follows:
Lifetime Achievement Award winner:
- James Jones of Orwell
Business Excellence Awards finalists:
- Businesses with fewer than 50 employees: Wholesale Imprints Inc./Ringer Screenprint; Springer Dairy; and Chris Brecht State Farm Insurance.
- Businesses with 50 to 150 employees: Gazette Newspapers/Great Lakes Printing; and Ashta Chemicals.
- Businesses with more than 150 employees: Ashtabula County Medical Center and Mohawk.
Finalists for the George H. Kaull Award for Entrepreneurship:
- Lake Erie Ship Repair and Fabrication
- Loudermilk Tractor & Cycle
- Harold and Priscilla Loudermilk
- Reel's Auto.
Kaull started Premix in a garage in 1959 and saw that business grow to a more than 300,000-square-foot plant. This award in his name recognizes people like Kaull who demonstrate exemplary skill at leading their business(es) to job growth, greater market share and other benchmarks indicating successful business development.
Community Impact Award finalists:
- Ashtabula County Community Action Agency
- Ashtabula County Airport Authority/Northeast Ohio Regional Airport
- Community Counseling Center.
The winners of the Business Excellence Awards, the George H. Kaull Award for Entrepreneurship and the Community Impact Award will be announced during the program that begins at 7:30p.m. A reception will be held at 5 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $75 per ticket or $700 per table of 10.
