Bakers Ready for ‘Cookie Table & Cocktails’ Feb. 8
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- More than 40 amateur and professional bakers are set to share their confections at the second annual Cookie Table & Cocktails fundraiser at 7 p.m. Feb. 8. The three-hour party to benefit the Tyler Mahoning Valley History Center will be held in the center as it focuses on exhibits and educational programming.
The title sponsor is The Waypoint Group of Morgan Stanley, Canfield. Scott Zoldan, first vice president and branch manager of Waypoint, said he and his business partner, Jeff Barone, are supporting the event because they believe in the Tyler Center's mission. "And, we heard how good it was last year,” he added, “especially the cookies."
Guests will be treated to cookies such as mini cannolis, assorted pizzelles, buckeyes, clothespins, nut kipfels, chocolate marshmallow brownies, caramel tarts and lemon tassies. Cookies will be judged and bakers will be awarded prizes in several new categories, among them “Best Unexpected Ingredient” and “Best Twist on an Old Tradition.”
Upward of 4,000 cookies will be displayed, and if guests have their fill of cookies at the event, carryout boxes will be available.
Musical entertainment will be provided by guitar duo String Theory and those who attend will have the opportunity to bid on many items in the silent auction, including a personal tour of Oak Hill Cemetery with Historical Society Director Bill Lawson; an overnight package at the Magnuson Grand Hotel; a dinner party with Mayor John A. McNally IV; photo prints from the historical society; and a basket with a rare bottle of Mill Creek maple syrup.
Tickets are $40 per person. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 330 743 2589.
