Awards Highlight 'Good Morning Canfield' April 4
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Two Canfield community and business leaders will be honored, one posthumously, during the “Good Morning, Canfield” breakfast at 7:30 a.m. April 4. Also on the agenda, Canfield Mayor Bernie Kosar Sr., township Trustee Chairman Stephen Maszczak and schools superintendent Alex Geordan will each devote five minutes to five need-to-know topics.
The ninth Canfield Area Council Business Pride Award will be presented to Johnson & Johnson, a law firm founded in 1921 by Walter Johnson, grandfather of partners Nils and Eric Johnson. The award recognizes businesses within the township or city limits of Canfield that exemplify ethical, moral and professional standards in their workplace and have visibly contributed to economic development.
The fourth Spirit of Canfield Award, given to an individual for his overall contributions to the city and township, will posthumously honor James Centofanti. Centofanti, a World War II veteran who served in the Marine Corps, was a successful business owner, philanthropist and horseman and a long-time member of the Board of Directors of Farmers National Bank. Through the James & Coralie Centofanti Charitable Foundation, millions of dollars have been donated to educational and recreational activities in the Canfield area.
A group of Canfield High School students known as The Circuit Birds will discuss their involvement in two regional, three-day robotics competitions in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Team adviser and teacher Don Crum and the students members will discuss how they built their robot and prepared for competition along with how the technology they’re using is preparing them for the jobs of tomorrow.
The event, to be held in Brooks Hall of the Mahoning County Career & Technical Center, is sponsored by Farmers National Bank.
