Annual United Way Day of Caring Takes Place Sept. 7
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The 15th annual United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley Day of Caring will be observed Sept. 7.
The Day of Caring, sponsored by Covelli Enterprises of Warren, is seeking volunteers.
The event is “a communitywide day of hands-on volunteering,” said Tara Mady, director of marketing and communications. Employees of companies in the Valley participate by completing tasks, odd jobs, and organizing activities for nonprofit organizations.
The United Way encourages students, churches other community groups and families to participate. Projects consist of painting, construction, landscaping, cleaning and home repairs.
The Day of Caring not only helps 34 local agencies to complete much-needed tasks, it provides volunteers with an opportunity to see firsthand how these agencies work to meet the needs of the community. The Day of Caring also marks the official start of the 2012 United Way Campaign.
Those interested in learning more about the Day of Caring or becoming a volunteer can call the United Way office at 330 746 8494. Registration forms can be downloaded at the website.
