Ankle & Foot Care Centers Begin Shoe Drive
BOARDMAN, Ohio -- Podiatric physicians and staff from Ankle & Foot Care Centers are urging the community to help the less fortunate by donating new pairs of shoes. The practice, with 18 sites throughout the Mahoning Valley, aims to collect more than 800 pairs of shoes between now and Jan. 4.
A shoe drive collection station has been set up in each office, all accepting new or nearly new shoes. All types of shoes are accepted, both children and adult sizes, and styles that range from casual to dress to athletic, said Michael Vallas, practice administrator.
The Salvation Army will distribute the shoes to families in need throughout the Mahoning Valley. The annual shoe drive began in 1998.
“A new pair of quality, proper-fitting shoes for those who can’t afford it can benefit a person’s health and self-esteem, and we hope to make a significant impact with our donation this year,” Vallas said.
Ankle & Foot Care Centers is the largest podiatric care provider in the region with 16 physicians and surgeons serving patients at 18 offices in Alliance, Austintown, Boardman, Campbell, Champion, Columbiana, East Liverpool, East Palestine, Lake Milton, Liberty, Niles, Poland, Salem, Struthers, Warren, Youngstown and Greenville, Pa.
