25 Under 35 Nominees Announced for 2014 Event
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Business, professional and nonprofit leaders are among the honorees for the 2014 25 Under 35 Awards announced this morning by the Mahoning Valley Young Professionals and the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley.
The awards program, previously known as 40 Under 40, the is in its ninth year of honoring “the Mahoning Valley’s best and brightest young professionals for excellence in their professional field and commitment to their community,” says Lori Shandor, planning committee chair and president of the Mahoning Valley Young Professionals. “As always, we had an exceptional group of nominees, which is a testament to the quality of the dedicated young professionals in the Mahoning Valley.”
The honorees will be recognized at an awards ceremony Feb. 13 at Stambaugh Auditorium. During the event, three honorees will be distinguished for special accolades as MVP Award winners.
The event benefits the MVYP’s primary fundraising effort -- The Young Philanthropist Fund, created through a partnership of the former MVP 20/30 Club and the Community Foundation. The fund was put in place to introduce our younger generation to philanthropy by fundraising, analysis of grant requests, site visits to nonprofits, and recommendation of grants to be awarded, says Shandor.
The 25 honorees and top 3 MVPs are selected by a committee formed by the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley. Criteria is based upon professional and service categories.
The Business Journal will publish its “25 Under 35 Extra Edition” Dec. 18, which will contain the biographies and photos of the nominees.
