Obama Officials Tout Programs to Assist Small Business
Thursday, July 12, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Obama Administration unveiled a series of actions Wednesday intended to aid small businesses, including expansion of a program to get government agencies to pay its contractors more quickly.
In September 2011, President Obama established a policy requiring agencies to accelerate payments to small business prime contractors, which account for roughly a fifth of all federal contracting.

Wednesday, July 11, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, D-17, is taking a stab at the big screen, as the five-term congressman from Niles is featured in a new documentary lashing out at unfair trade practices by China.
The film, "Death By China," opens Aug. 17 in California and Sept. 7 in theaters in Ohio, including the Regal 10 in the Austintown Plaza, according to the film's website. The documentary is narrated by actor Martin Sheen and is directed by Peter Navarro, based on the book of the same name Navarro co-authored with Greg Autry.
Casey Promotes Small Business Tax Cut
Wednesday, July 11, 2012WASHINGTON – Legislation that would provide small businesses a 10% income tax credit on new payroll for hiring new workers or increasing employee wages cleared a procedural hurdle Tuesday.
The U.S. Senate voted 80-14 to end debate on the measure, known as the Small Business Jobs and Tax Relief Act. The credit, if approved, would be available for a year beginning with the first full quarter following enactment, according to a release issued by the office of U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa.
