$9 Million Antonine Village Set to Open in November
Thursday, August 07, 2014NORTH JACKSON, Ohio -- An early November opening is planned for the Antonine Sisters’ new $9 million assisted living and memory care center that will complement their 23-year-old adult day care facility.
B&B Construction of Youngstown is serving as general contractor for Antonine Village, construction of which is nearing completion at 2675 N. Lipkey Road. K. Anthony Hayek of MS Consultants of Youngstown is the architect.
Built around a secure courtyard, the campus will include 50 apartments, including 21 for adults with memory impairment and 29 for assisted living.
Community Health Systems Settles US Billing Probe
Wednesday, August 06, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Community Health Systems Inc., which operates four hospitals in the Mahoning and Shenango valleys, has entered into a settlement agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice to resolve the federal investigation into short stay admissions through emergency departments at some of its affiliated hospitals.
SEIU Opposes Elimination of LPNs at TMH

Name Change for Humility of Mary Health Partners
Thursday, July 24, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Catholic Health Partners, the parent of Humility of Mary Health Partners, has changed its name to Mercy Health, the company reported today. The system’s name change will be phased into all of its facilities, according to the announcement, including HMHP facilities.
The system already operates under the “Mercy” name in five of its seven markets, including Cincinnati, Toledo, Lorain, Springfield and Paducah, Ky.
BWC Agrees to Settle San Allen Class Action Lawsuit
Thursday, July 24, 2014COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation reports it has reached an agreement in principle to settle the San Allen class-action lawsuit filed in 2007 again the state over BWC pricing policies in place from 2001 to 2008.
The settlement includes BWC creating a $420 million fund to pay for claims to employers participating in the lawsuit, their attorney fees, court costs and the costs of administering the fund.
The agreement in principle was announced Wednesday.
