WARREN, Ohio -- In recognition Breast Cancer Awareness Month Covelli Enterprises and Panera Bread is hosting its annual Go Pink Day today.
All seven Mahoning Valley Panera Bread bakery-cafes today will donate 100% of the proceeds from all Pink Ribbon Bagel sales to the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown.
Throughout the rest of October, Panera Bread cafes will continue to donate 10% of the proceeds from each Pink Ribbon Bagel sold to the center in support of Joanie’s Promise Fund, which helps keep its services accessible to all regardless of their ability to pay.
Last year, more than 16,000 bagels were sold during the one-day event. This year, Zeta Tau Alpha sorority will match the amount raised through the Pink Ribbon Bagel sales.
“We appreciate the generosity of Covelli Enterprises and the support of the community for events like the Panerathon and the Go Pink bagel sales. These on-going efforts are what keep Joanie’s Promise alive and help us get closer to achieving the center’s primary goal: to decrease the breast cancer mortality rate in our Valley,” said Jonathon Fauvie of the HMHP Foundation. “This community truly makes a difference in the lives of our patients and we are blessed and grateful for all of the support we continue to receive.”
The center is also the recipient of funds from the Panerathon. Over the past 5 years the event has been able to raise $1 million dollars for the center.
