NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The Jameson Junior Guild, the volunteer hospital auxiliary of Jameson Health System, has presented health system leadership with $275,000. The funds were generated over the past year at the Guild’s annual spring luncheon at the New Castle Country Club.
This annual contribution will nearly conclude the $1 Million Facelift Pledge the guild initiated three years ago, positioning the donation to be complete nearly two years ahead of schedule.
The facelift is underway with full patient room renovations at Jameson Hospital, including new flooring, anti-microbial curtains, bathroom fixtures and heating and air conditioning. The Jameson Care Center and Jameson Rehabilitation Center, both in Neshannock Township, also received enhancements of new flooring, carpeting and upholstery.
The guild raises money for the health system with revenue from gift and restaurant sales at the Hostess Shops at the Jameson Hospital North Campus, South Campus and Jameson Care Center as well as from merchandise sales of jewelry/fashion accessories, uniforms, books, baked goods and home items; the Annual Bazaar, the guild’s largest sale; and other events such as the Jameson Hospital Run For Your Heart: Fireworks Day 5k/10k. The latter was named winner of the Pennsylvania Association of Hospital Auxiliaries’ 2012 Most Creative Fundraising Event Award at the luncheon.
“With 22,000 volunteer hours recorded this past year and over $8 million contributed through the years, there are no words to express our gratitude for the commitment of our guild," said Doug Danko, Jameson Health president and CEO. "Our health system is at a dynamic point in our history with critical investments in new technology, construction of our new emergency and surgical departments Building and ever-evolving service offerings with recruitment of targeted physician specialists keeping specialty services close to home."
The check was presented by Eleanor Boyles, outgoing Guild president, and Norma Vranjes, new president, to Danko, Steven Warner, Jameson Hospital Board chairman and Lee Silverman, chairman of the Jameson Health Board.
