COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has reached a settlement with Environmental Specialists Inc., Youngstown, Ohio, for past violations of hazardous waste management requirements at the company's transfer facility at 1101 Andrews Ave.The company has agreed to pay a $19,000 civil penalty.During inspections of the facility in March and April 2003, the Ohio EPA determined that the company was violating Ohio's hazardous waste laws. These violations included operating a hazardous waste storage facility without a permit, failing to develop and maintain a written waste analysis plan and used oil management issues, among other violations.One of the inspections was prompted after the EPA received a complaint.The company has since corrected the violations. The $19,000 will go into Ohio's hazardous waste clean-up fund."
