BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Governor Edward G. Rendell today visited Beaver County to sign legislation implementing his job-creating economic stimulus package. The governor also presented the Corporation for Owner-Operator Projects with $1 million in funds provided through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, which helps rejuvenate Pennsylvania's downtown areas, and announced economic-development funding for two Beaver County companies.The $1 million awarded to CO-OP will be used to expand its business incubator and professional business services to a new facility. The Beaver Falls-based company anticipates a potential creation of 400 jobs, generating more than $20 million in wages and revenue for the Beaver County region.The new Beaver County Technology and Manufacturing Development Center will be located in Chippewa Township. Two-thirds of the work force is expected to be composed of unemployed or underemployed, low-income individuals. CO-OP will also work with the Community College of Beaver County to deliver customized job training programs.The two companies are Vesuvius McDanel, of Beaver Falls, and Internet Providers Inc., of Rochester. The funds will assist both companies with expansion projects that will retain 119 jobs and create 15 jobs respectively over the next three years.Vesuvius McDanel manufactures industrial and technical ceramics, including fused silica rolls used by automotive and architectural window manufacturers to temper glass. The company now will be able to integrate Glass Tempering Roll production in Beaver County by utilizing a recently built, unoccupied facility across the street from the main plant. Funding for Vesuvius McDanel consists of a $350,000 Opportunity Grant and $50,000 in job training assistance.Internet Providers, an Internet service provider, will receive $45,000 in Job Creation Tax Credits, a $30,000 Opportunity Grant and job training assistance in the amount of $15,000 to expand into the recently purchased 1890's Rohm Building in the Borough of Rochester. Renovations will be made to the facility to house their new corporate headquarters."
