Tuesday, December 09, 2014WASHINGTON -- Americans' attitudes toward housing have tracked closely with the uneven housing market trend this year, which is improving. But they still lag behind the overall economy trend, says a survey by Fannie Mae.
Consumers' personal financial outlook has increased fairly steadily during the year, lending support to the ongoing housing market recovery, according to the Fannie Mae National Housing Survey for November.
The share of respondents who expect mortgage rates to rise in 2015 fell again to 45%, in line with a gradual but uneven decline since the beginning of the year. On the other hand, the share who believe now is a good time to buy and sell a home moved further apart: 68% of consumers say now is a good time buy, an increase of three percentage points, compared to 39% who say it is a good time to sell, a drop of 5%.
