Youngstown Orthopaedic’s Weimer Inducted into Academy
CANFIELD, Ohio -- David A. Weimer, M.D., of Youngstown Orthopaedic Associates, has been inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Weimer, also a physical therapist who specializes in minimally invasive hip and knee replacement and complex hip and knee revision surgery, was one of 620 new members inducted.
A resident of Poland, Weimer joined Youngstown Orthopaedic Associates in 2008 and became a partner in 2011. To be eligible for induction, Academy fellows have completed medical school, plus at least five years of specialty study in orthopedics in an accredited residency program, passed a comprehensive oral and written exam and have been certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Weimer also serves on the staffs at ValleyCare's Northside Medical Center and the Youngstown and Boardman campuses of St. Elizabeth Hospital. He earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and completed his orthopedic residency training at Wayne State University and Detroit Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in adult reconstruction at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago and Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Ill.
Youngstown Orthopaedic Associates is the Youngstown area's largest orthopedic surgery practice. The practice includes nine board certified orthopedic surgeons and comprehensive physical therapy, occupational therapy, sports medicine and MRI services.
The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons has more than 37,000 members worldwide.
