HMHP Hospitals Earn Top Grades for Emergency Medicine
BOARDMAN, Ohio -- Emergency Departments at St. Elizabeth and St. Elizabeth Boardman health centers have won the Top 5% Emergency Department Excellence Designation from HealthGrades. This is the third consecutive year St. Elizabeth has won this distinction from HealthGrades and the second consecutive year for St. Elizabeth Boardman.
HealthGrades identified the nation's top performing hospitals for emergency medical care.
According to the report’s results, patients admitted to top hospitals for emergency medicine have a 40% lower death rate. For five specific health emergencies -- chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pneumonia, gastrointestinal bleed, heart failure, and pulmonary embolism, the report says that patients can best increase their chances of survival by visiting an Emergency Medicine Excellence Hospital. Top-performing hospitals vary most dramatically from other hospitals in their mortality rates for these five conditions.
In this analysis, HealthGrades independently and objectively analyzed approximately seven million Medicare patient records from fiscal years 2008 through 2010, according to a news release from Humility of Mary Health Partners, operator of the hospitals..
HMHP is an affiliate of Catholic Health Partners in Cincinnati, the largest health system in Ohio and one of the largest Catholic health systems in the United States.
