Hearing Care Centers Offer Chance at Free Hearing Aids
BOARDMAN, Ohio -- On May 18, a drawing will take place at the corporate offices of Centers for Hearing Care here. Within hours of the drawing, 25 local people will each be awarded and fitted with a new hearing aid valued at $6,000 absolutely free.
For more than 10 years the Centers for Hearing Care has traveled to many remote places around the world to help those less fortunate by giving the gift of hearing with thousands of ear cleanings and free hearing aids and has been involved in the local community as well. This local hearing mission will be a first of its kind.
"Our mission is to bring the gift of hearing to those in need that they may be able to realize their full potential" states Dr. Sheryl Figliano, owner of the Centers for Hearing Care. "It has always been a personal goal of mine to have a local hearing mission and we now have the ability to conduct one."
To qualify for the drawing each application must be completed, reviewed and approved prior to May 18. This mission is designed for those who have no other resources available to them and is a program of last resort, Figliano said.
In addition to being fitted with a custom made hearing aid, recipients also will receive audio testing, a year's supply of batteries, and instruction on how to care for the new device.
Figliano and her staff have traveled to many remote areas including Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and most recently to the small Caribbean nation of Dominica. Centers for Hearing Care also has a recycling program and will accept any hearing aids regardless of age, make or model. These aids are salvaged for parts to build new aids that are used on hearing missions.
Applicants for the free hearing aid program are asked to call 888- 629-9012 to discuss eligibility for the program and obtain an application, which must be returned by May 10.
