YSU Williamson College Hosts Human Resource Seminars
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Center for Nonprofit Leadership at Youngstown State University’s Williamson College of Business Administration is inviting nonprofit professionals to attend a development seminar series, “Strategic Management of Human Resources.”
This three-seminar series begins March 23 with the topic of "Selecting Energetic Staff," at which participants will learn practical steps for how to manage selection alternatives, processes and expectations to recruit a talented workforce while maximizing strategic consistency and minimizing liability and costs. All seminars run from 9 a.m. to noon.
The topic of the second seminar, scheduled for April 27, is "Managing & Retaining Talent." The seminar emphasizes strategic application of performance management, staff incentives and other opportunities to evolve competencies of a workforce and preserve those resources in an organization.
"Human Capital as an Investment" is the topic of the May 25 seminar, which will present best practices of human resource management, introduce methods of examining returns from human capital investments, and highlight strategic alignment across functions.
The facilitator for all three seminars is Jacob W. Breland, assistant professor of management. In this role, he serves students and the larger community as a resource for HR-related information. Breland routinely publishes, consults and speaks on topics relevant to maximizing the returns from their human talent.
All seminars will be held in the Williamson College of Business Administration Conference Center on the third floor of Williamson Hall. Parking is available on Wood Street. Registration and continental breakfast for each session will start at 8:30 a.m., and the per-session cost is $50 (or $135 for advance reservations at all three seminars).
Supervisors and prospective supervisors from all employment sectors (nonprofit, private and public) are welcome.
Advance registration and payment is required, and seating is limited to 50 per seminar. Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, call Laura McCaskey at 330 941 1870.
