Grove City College Business Program Gets Accreditation

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs, Overland Park, Kan., has accredited the business curriculum at Grove City College, reports William Hinton, professor of business at the college.
The accreditation “assures students and employers that the program is strong and its graduates are thoroughly qualified,” the college said in a press release.
All programs leading to majors in the accounting, business administration and entrepreneurship are included by the accreditation of the ACPSP Board of Commissioners who oversee the undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
The ACBSP recognized the excellence in pedagogy Grove City faculty have demonstrated in “business topics” and that they achieved in “challenging standards” such as leadership, strategic planning, focus on students, how well students learn the materials presented “and quality and management of curricula.”
Grove City College chose to seek accreditation from the ACBSP because “This agency focuses more on teaching excellence and less on research,” Hinton explained in a phone interview.
The accreditation lasts for 10 years, with a college submitting status reports every two years, before the process in repeated.
“We have been impressed by the rigor and thoroughness of the ACBSP accreditation process,” Hinton said. “Many in the business program worked hard to achieve this end. We are very gratified with the result.”
