Bank One Remains No. 1 Federal Student Loan Lender
INDIANAPOLIS -- Bank One, the nation's sixth-largest bank holding company, is once again the No. 1 student loan originator in the Federal Family Education Loan Program, according to the Department of Education's annual ranking of top loan providers.In Fiscal Year 2003, Bank One originated a record $3.3 billion of federally guaranteed Stafford and PLUS loans, a 22% increase over Fiscal Year 2002, and the first time any lender has surpassed $3 billion in FFELP originations. Since 1998, Bank One has ranked within the top three loan originators each year, says Craig Anderson, president of Education One Group, the exclusive representative for Bank One Education loans.Bank One, he adds, serves more than 2,500 schools and 825,000 students nationwide.Bank One provides more than $4 billion in federal and private loans annually to help parents and students meet the costs associated with education."
