YSU Skeggs Lecture Series to Feature Valerie Plame

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Valerie Plame, the former covert operations officer with the Central Intelligence Agency who found herself at the heart of a political firestorm during the administration of President George W. Bush, will speak at Stambaugh Auditorium at 7 p.m. Feb 25. Youngstown State University and its Skeggs Lecture Series are sponsoring her appearance..
In 2003, senior White House and State Department officials officials disclosed her secret status to several national journalists, including syndicated conservative newspaper columnist Robert Novak, who published Plame’s name. A investigation determined that Plame’s “outing” was coordinated with the involvement of key figures within the Bush administration. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, on the staff oof former Vice Preident Dick Cheney, was indicted and found guilty on four of the five counts against him.
Plame is the author of the New York Times bestseller, Fair Game: My Life as a Spy, My Betrayal by the White House. She will sign copies of her book at 8 p.m. following her lecture.
Admission is free but tickets are required. Tickets are available at YSU, by visiting the Stambaugh Auditorium box office, calling 330 259 0555 or online. Tickets will be held at Will Call unless they are picked up in person, a self-addressed and stamped envelope is sent. Stambaugh Auditorium will charge a $3 handling fee for tickets it mails.
