JobsOhio President to Speak at Chamber Annual Meeting
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Mark Kvamme, president and interim chief investment officer for JobsOhio, will be the keynote speaker at the annual meeting March 22 of the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber. The luncheon event will honor four individuals for their contributions to the Mahoning Valley and the Regional Chamber.
Kvamme heads JobsOhio, a private, nonprofit corporation that lead Ohio’s job-creation efforts by focusing on attracting and retaining jobs, with an emphasis on strategic industry sectors. Kvamme came to Ohio in 2011 to assist Gov. John Kasich in boosting the state’s economy. Kvamme had previously worked for more than a decade as a venture capitalist in the Silicon Valley of California.
During the annual meeting, the Chamber will present three awards to community members who strive to make the Valley a better place to live and work. This year's honorees are:
William G. Lyden Jr. Spirit Of The Valley Award: Dr. Rashid Abdu, senior surgeon, St. Elizabeth Health Center; emeritus director of surgical education, St. Elizabeth Health Center; and emeritus professor of surgery, Northeastern Ohio Medical University.
Donald Cagigas Spirit Of The Chamber Award: Richard H. Dearing, president, and Rebecca S. Wall, vice president, Dearing Compressor & Pump Co., Boardman.
Chairwoman’s Political Achievement Award: Patrick J. Ungaro, Liberty Township administrator and former mayor of Youngstown.
The event sponsor is Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield; the awards underwriter is Farmers National Bank.
The luncheon will take place from 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Mr. Anthony’s in Boardman. The cost is $30 for chamber members and $40 for non-members. Advanced reservations are required by calling Jennifer Mascardine at 330 744 2131 ext. 12.
