MVHS to Open Galleries Thursday at Tyler Center
Tuesday, November 04, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will announce Thursday morning that the first-floor galleries and archives at the Tyler Mahoning Valley History Center downtown will open effective 1 p.m. that day.
The society will also provide a status report on its fundraising campaign and announce a “major gift” to the organization, said its executive director, Bill Lawson. Several events already have been staged in the building’s ballroom.
Ohio Ranked 5th for Best Business Climate
Tuesday, November 04, 2014ATLANTA -- Site Selection magazine has ranked Ohio as having the fifth-best business climate this year and reports a separate survey by corporate real estate executives it polled ranked the Buckeye State as having the ninth-best business climate.
Site Selection, which released its annual rankings Monday, “named Georgia as the state with the Top Business Climate for 2014. The rankings are published in the November issue of the trade journal.
Demand Up for Office Space in Mahoning Valley
Monday, November 03, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Demand for additional -- or at least different -- office space is contributing to activity in the Mahoning Valley market, commercial real estate agents report.
“We’re seeing a lot more activity for office space right now,” says John Horvath, broker associate with commercial services at Northwood Realty Services, Poland.
In many cases, satisfying pent-up demand is driving office deals, Horvath says, as businesses that needed space two or three years ago are acting on that need.
Ohio Export Internship Program Seeks Companies
Monday, November 03, 2014COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The state is offering assistance to businesses that are interested in marketing their products around the globe through Ohio Export Internship Program.
Approximately 50 students will be selected to assist companies for this year’s program, including 10 students from the Williamson College of Business Administration at Youngstown State University, a new partner to the program. The remaining 40 students will be chosen from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University.
A&C Beverage to Open Upscale Store Downtown
Friday, October 31, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Passing the downtown structure that until recently housed the Edison Financial Credit Union on his way to church, Al Franceschelli always found it was unusual looking.
In a few months, that “oddball building,” as he describes it -- at 45 South Ave., east of the U.S. Postal Service’s main Youngstown office downtown -- will become the new home for Francheschelli’s A&C Southway Beverage. He is relocating the store from 2733 South Ave. and expanding the operation.
