OEPA Hearing Nov. 18 on Proposed Gas Pipeline
Tuesday, November 11, 2014STEUBENVILLE, Ohio -- The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency will hold a public meeting at 6 p.m. Nov. 18 in the public library here on how a pipeline sought by Texas Eastern Transmission LLP might affect water quality in five counties including Columbiana County, the agency announced Monday.
Texas Eastern proposes to build a 75.8-mile pipeline and 75-foot construction right-of-way in five eastern Ohio through Hanover, Franking and Washington townships in Columbiana County.
Shell to Purchase Horsehead Site for Cracker Plant
Saturday, November 08, 2014MONACA, Pa. -- Royal Dutch Shell has exercised its option to purchase the former Horsehead Holding Corp. site here, a signal that the giant energy company is moving closer to building a multibillion-dollar ethane cracker plant.
Even so, Shell said that just because the company purchased the land doesn't mean it's made a decision on whether to proceed with the project.
“This is a good decision but it does not mean that we have [made] the investment decision to proceed with the project,” Ate Visser, the vice president with Shell Chemical, according to published reports.
Hilcorp Resumes Permitting Activity in Northern Utica
Wednesday, November 05, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Hilcorp Energy Co. has resumed permitting activity in the northern tier of the Utica shale in Ohio and western Pennsylvania, while other energy companies continue to focus on acreage in the southern section of the oil and gas play.
Hilcorp secured 11 new drilling permits in the northern Utica during the week ended Nov. 1, more than any other energy company exploring the play, according to records from state agencies that regulate the oil and gas industry.
