YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The WKBN website was awarded the 2012 regional Edward R. Murrow Award in the “Best Broadcast Affiliated Website” category, New Vision Television of Youngstown announced Thursday.

Red Cross Seeks 'Acts of Courage' Nominations

WARREN, Ohio -- The American Red Cross of the Mahoning Valley is seeking nominations for its 2012 Acts of Courage Awards. Local residents are encouraged to nominate individuals whose lifesaving actions are courageous and deserving of special recognition.

Chamber Canfield Breakfast Rescheduled for May 4

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Youngsstown/Warren Regional Chamber's "Good Morning, Canfield" breakfast has been rescheduled for May 4. The original date was April 13.

The breakfast will take place from 7:30 to 9 a.m. May 4 at McMahon Hall, 7574 Columbiana-Canfield Road.

ODOD Schedules Small Business Seminar Series

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Department of Development will offer a series of seminars for small business owners from April through September. The free seminars are designed to strengthen and expand small business ownership across the state.

Strimbu Memorial Fund BBQ May 2 at Yankee Lake

BROOKFIELD, Ohio -- The 23nd Annual Strimbu BBQ is planned for May 2 at the Yankee Lake Ballroom here as part of a fund raising effort for the Strimbu Memorial Fund. Since its inception in 1990, the Strimbu Memorial Fund has raised close to $2 million, with over $1.8 million awarded in grants to various community programs and in scholarships to area high school students.

Fully 99% of the proceeds of the Strimbu BBQ go to these scholarships and grants, organizers say.
