YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- "Ready for Hillary, a national independent advocacy group based in Arlington, Va., today announced that U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, D-13 Ohio, is the first member of the U.S. House of Representatives to publicly announce his support of "Ready for Hillary."
Said Ryan in a prepared statement released by the group, “I’m proud to announce my support for the Ready for Hillary movement and to join more than one million Americans in doing so. I believe Hillary would make a fantastic president of the United States but that won’t happen unless we organize and encourage her to run. If we are to break through the glass ceiling and make Hillary our next president, it will require a new generation of leaders stepping up to the plate and building a movement from the ground up. Ready for Hillary is building that movement, and I am thrilled to be part of it," Ryan said.
In its announcement of Ryan's support, the advocacy group noted he was elected to Congress at age 29 and is now serving his sixth term. "As co-chairman of the Congressional Manufacturing Caucus, Ryan is a relentless advocate for America’s workers and a champion for a strong middle class," the announcement noted.
“We are incredibly grateful to have Congressman Ryan join the Ready for Hillary movement,” said Adam Parkhomenko, executive director, in a prepared statement. “He understands our mission and our challenges, and he knows that nothing is more important than harnessing the energy of everyday Americans at the grassroots level. Supporters like Tim who are new to the fold are playing a key role in our efforts to encourage Hillary to run -- and they will play a key role in helping her win should she decide to do so.”
Ready for Hillary says it has more than one million supporters who are encouraging former Secretary of State Clinton to run for president in 2016. "Ready for Hillary is assembling an army of grassroots supporters and sending a message that if she is ready to run for president, we are ready to support her. We believe Hillary Clinton is the best qualified person to be president in 2016 and that her historic election would build upon the progress of President Obama and continue to lead this country into the future," the group said.
