AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- The growing need for care for adults inside the home has inspired three business partners to open a new, non-medical in-home health service in the township.
FirstLight HomeCare of the Valley will serve residents of Mahoning, Columbiana and Trumbull counties, its principals say.
"We're excited to bring FirstLight HomeCare to the area," said David Stewart, partner. "Our FirstLight HomeCare team goal is to become a valuable resource for the community by providing solutions for those who wish to live at home and maintain their independence."
Mike Senchak, the former president and CEO of Mahoning Valley Hospital, and his son, Michael, are also partners in the new venture.
Senchak said over the last several years, he and his son discussed the prospects of going into business together and wanted to focus on serving and helping others.
Stewart was most recently the vice president of operations at a local technology company, while the younger Senchak worked previously as manager for a local software company. Both met while completing their degrees at Youngstown State University and each has had experiences taking care of family members.
The new business, based at 5437 Mahoning Ave., provides non-medical care to seniors, adults with disabilities and those recuperating through physical rehabilitation. Services such as companion care, personal care, respite care and travel companionship services.
FirstLight also provides services such as a dementia program that centers help around the individual, not the disease, the company says.
FirstLight caregivers are direct employees (not contractors), state licensed where required and thoroughly screened with a corresponding background-check and must pass through our rigorous in-home care training, the company says. Once hired, the employees go through what FirstLight calls its "Culture of Care" training program and orientation.
First Light Home Care Franchising LLC is based in Cincinnati. The franchisees operate locations in 24 states. In Ohio, there are 11 FirstLight offices.
