Thursday, February 05, 2015RICHMOND, Va. -- The Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing announced Wednesday that RTI International Metals Inc. has become the industry, academic and government consortium’s newest member.
CCAM brings together manufacturers, Virginia’s top universities, and the NASA Langley Research Center. As a principal industry member, RTI will participate in generic research at CCAM’s state-of-the-art facility in Prince George County.
RTI, headquartered in Pittsburgh with a mill in Niles, Ohio, supplies the global aerospace, defense, energy and medical device industries with titanium mill products and precision engineered assemblies and sub-assemblies.
“As an innovator in the field of titanium and specialty metals research and manufacturing, RTI’s vision and thought leadership will benefit the CCAM members and drive collaborative new research and manufacturing developments,” said Joseph F. Moody, president and executive director of the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing.
“Multidisciplinary efforts that leverage industry, academia, and government resources and expertise are key to solving the manufacturing industry’s most challenging problems. RTI is pleased to join the CCAM network of partners working to develop new products, services and solutions that meet the needs of the most demanding applications,” said Kate J. Jackson, RTI’s chief technology officer.
