Kasich to Speak Thursday at Chamber Annual Meeting
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Gov. John Kasich will be the featured speaker at the annual meeting of the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber tomorrow, the governor's communications office announced this morning.
The program will begin at noon, with Kasich scheduled to deliver his remarks around 1 p.m. The luncheon event will be held at Mr. Anthony's Banquet Center in Boardman.
Tom Humphries, the chamber's president and CEO, supported Kasich in the 2010 gubernatorial election, when the Republican defeated Gov. Ted Strickland, a former Democratic congressman who represented the 6th District, which included southern Mahoning County and Columbiana County.
Kasich spoke at a chamber event in February 2011 at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport.
Among those scheduled to be recognized during the luncheon program are Sam Covelli, owner/operator of Covelli Enterprises, this year’s recipient of the William G. Lyden, Jr. Spirit Of The Valley Award; David N. Hughes, owner of Specialty Fab Inc., North Lima, who will receive the Donald Cagigas Spirit Of The Chamber Award; and Youngstown Mayor Charles Sammarone, winner of the Chairman’s Political Achievement Award. Cynthia Anderson, who is stepping down as president of Youngstown State University, will also be honored for her work.
