Hiram College Selects Panzica Construction
HIRAM, Ohio -- Hiram College officials have selected the Panzica Construction Co. of Mayfield Village, Ohio, to manage construction services for the institution's Lester and Kathleen Coleman Sports, Recreation & Fitness Center, a $12.2 million project.Heavy construction began immediately after the last Hiram College basketball game of the season in late February.The Coleman Sports, Recreations & Fitness Center is named for the late Lester Coleman, and his wife, Kathy, a longtime member of the Hiram College Board of Trustees. Designed by Hastings & Chivetta, an architectural firm that is nationally recognized for its distinctive athletic facilities, the new facility will consist of 82,000 square feet of new construction and renovated space which wraps around the Charles A. Henry Football Field and is connected to the Price Gymnasium. Among the amenities planned for the building are a multipurpose gymnasium, suspended indoor jogging track, cardio-fitness center, racquetball courts, classrooms, and Hall of Fame Lounge."The Coleman Center will be a facility for all members of our campus community to utilize and enjoy," said Thomas V. Chema, president of Hiram College. "Panzica has built many of the region's most talked about athletic facilities. We're pleased to be able to partner with them to complete this new addition to our campus."Panzica has completed many high profile projects in northeast Ohio including a wide variety of fitness and recreation facilities for clients such as the Cleveland Browns, Gilmour Academy, and the cities of Westlake, Strongsville, and Macedonia. Two of the firm's signature projects are the new Plain Dealer building and the renovation and restoration of Severance Hall."
