Salem Community Hospital Names Interim CEO
SALEM, Ohio --The board of directors of Salem Community Hospital today announced it has accepted the resignation of Steven Ruwoldt as president and CEO, and appointed Anita Hackstedde, M.D., as interim president/CEO effective immediately.
No reason was given for Ruwoldt's departure. All that was said in a news release was this statement by Derek Hiscox, chairman of the board: “On behalf of the entire board, I want to thank Steve Ruwoldt for his service to the hospital during the past year."
Hiscox thanked Hackstedde for accepting the interim appointment.
“Salem Community Hospital is looking forward to a number of exciting opportunities, including the launch of our new bed tower early in 2014," he said. "The hospital has a strong legacy of innovation and commitment to our patients; and we recently completed our strategic plan that will position the Hospital for future growth. Our board of directors recognizes Dr. Hackstedde’s valuable leadership role in carrying this vision forward.”
Hackstedde has held key leadership positions at the hospital since she joined the SCH staff as the vice president of medical affairs in November 2006, and recently supervised the hospital's implement of its electronic medical records system. She is board certified in internal medicine and pediatrics.
“It is an honor to be selected for this leadership role at such an exciting milestone in the hospital’s history,” Hackstedde said. “We will be celebrating our 100-year anniversary in September, along with opening our new bed tower in January of 2014, which will offer 87 private rooms to meet our patients’ needs.”
No other changes were made to hospital’s executive leadership, Hiscox noted.
