Pizza Huts to Raise Funds for Alex's Lemonade Stand
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Pizza Hut restaurants through Northeast Ohio will participate in a fund raiser for the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Beginning July 13 and through the end of the month, 76 Pizza Hut restaurants operated by Hallrich Inc. will sell paper lemons to raise funds for the battle against childhood cancer.
Hallrich opened its first Pizza Hut restaurant in 1968 in Austintown, and now operates 81 locations in northeastern Ohio. Participating restaurants are in Ashland, Ashtabula, Columbiana, Coshocton, Geauga, Knox, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Medina, Morrow, Ottawa, Portage, Stark, Summit, Trumbull and Wayne counties and the cities of Solon and Sunbury.
The Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott.
In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since then, the foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fund-raising movement and has raised more than $60 million toward fulfilling her dream of finding a cure, funding over 300 pediatric cancer research projects nationally.
