Open House for Ivy Woods Heart Rehab Program
NORTH LIMA, Ohio -- Ivy Woods Manor invites the public to an open house Feb. 13 from 4 to 6 p.m. The event will display its new congestive heart failure rehabilitation program. Tours are available.
Ivy Woods has developed a comprehensive program with Accelerated Care Plus, a provider of specialty-based rehabilitation programs. Ivy Woods therapists received extensive training on how to treat CHF patients based on their symptoms and daily care needs, says spokeswoman Katie Rusu. A special motorized rehabilitation system called an Omnicycle can help patients exercise their upper and lower bodies, even when they are too weak or too tired to exercise independently.
The nurse educator and the heart-failure advocate from St. Elizabeth Health Center have trained the licensed nursing staff. Ivy Woods Manor has adopted the policies and protocols the hospital uses to treat and manage CHF and has developed a program that provides continuity of services involving the hospital, skilled rehab center and home-health agencies.
The goal is to provide rehabilitation and education to seniors in the local community learning to manage and live with congestive heart failure, which reportedly affects more than five million Americans and is a leading cause of hospitalizations and death for people over 65.
Light refreshments will be served at the open house. For more information, call Katie Rusu at 330 397 5950.
