Northside to Break Ground Tuesday on $20M Project
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- ValleyCare Health System of Ohio will hold a ceremonial groundbreaking Tuesday at Northside Medical Center for its $20 million expansion, the system announced today.
ValleyCare, an affiliate of Community Health Systems, Nashville, announced plans last month to construct a new 30,000-square-foot patient tower at the Northside campus and renovate 28,000 square feet of existing space. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. near the emergency room lawn.
The new tower will feature a main lobby with registration area, pre-admission testing, waiting area, gift shop and information center. The project also includes a new emergency room with 21 private exam and trauma rooms, enhanced surgical services including 21 private same-day surgery patient bays, endoscopy suite, broncoscopy room and waiting area.
Other capital projects at ValleyCare affiliates are expected to be announced over the next six to 18 month, said the CEO of ValleyCare and Northside, Kirk Ray. ValleyCare affiliates include Northside, Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren and Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital in Howland. Community Health Systems committed to investing at least $80 million in the facilities over five years when it acquired the assets of the former Forum Health in 2010.
