National Pancake Day Benefits Akron Children’s
BOARDMAN, Ohio -- Tuesday is National Pancake Day, and from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., IHOP restaurants across the United States will offer guests a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes. Among others, the event will benefit Akron Childdren's Hospital Mahoning Valley.
Pancake Day is intended to raise awareness and funds for Children's Miracle Network hospitals. For every stack of buttermilk pancakes sold during the day, IHOP guests are invited to make a donation to their local network hospital. IHOP restaurants in Boardman and Warren are participating.
This year will mark IHOP’s eighth year of participating in National Pancake Day and more than 1,500 IHOP restaurants throughout the United States takig part.
The donation requested is the equivalent of what guests would have paid for the pancakes (or more). The hope is to raise $3 million nationally, bringing IHOP's fundraising total to more than $13 million over eight years.
Last year, IHOP gave away over four million pancakes, which would have created a stack more than 31.5 miles high. Their customers donated more than $3 million.
Children’s Miracle Network “Miracle Balloons” will also be sold for $1 and $5 each. They will be personalized and displayed at participating IHOP restaurants through Tuesday
Akron Children’s Hospital has been caring for children from Youngstown, Warren and surrounding communities more than 50 years. Children’s Miracle Network is an international nonprofit organization that raises funds for more than 170 children’s hospitals.
