CEO to Leave Sharon Regional Health System
SHARON, Pa. -- John R. “Jack” Janoso Jr., president and CEO of Sharon Regional Health System, is leaving to assume the same role at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster, Ohio, the system announced Thursday.
“While this is an exciting professional and personal opportunity, it was a difficult decision because I have truly enjoyed working with Sharon Regional’s outstanding group of board members, employees, physicians, and volunteers who care for this community every day,” Janoso said in a prepared statement. “Through my 15-year career at Sharon Regional, I had the opportunity to be part of the significant growth of the institution both on its main campus in Sharon along with the expansion into neighboring communities through our numerous satellite centers.”
Tennessee-based Community Health Systerms, the operator of ValleyCare of Ohio, agreed in February to purchase the assets of Sharon Regional -- terms were not disclosed -- and invest $75 million in upgrades. The decision to sell the health system’s assets board followed a year-long process “to determine if the best interests of the community would be served by Sharon Regional remaining independent or pursuing some type of strategic partnership,” the board of directors said at the time.
Janoso joined Sharon Regional in 1999 as a vice president and chief information officer. He subsequently assumed responsibilities for imaging services and the corporate compliance program, was named vice president of operations, ancillary, and support services in 2006, and appointed president and CEO in 2012.
He led the team in developing and constructing the Hermitage Diagnostic and Imaging Center, the Hubbard Diagnostic and Specialty Center, directed the development of Sharon Regional’s five-year informational technology master plan that resulted in the conversion of full electronic medical records throughout the health system, and led initiatives that resulted in numerous quality awards and recognitions.
Janoso will remain with Sharon Regional through early October while the search for a new CEO is underway.
