VentureLab Teams Selected at Grove City College
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Twenty-seven Grove City College students will participate in the 2014-15 VentureLab, an early-stage business and social enterprise idea effort in its third year.
VentureLab, sponsored by The Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Grove City College, provides seed grants for workspace and guidance to student-entrepreneurs.
Of the 15 teams who applied, eight were chosen. All made their cases for funding to buy supplies or professional services that would test the viability of their ideas.
VentureLab teams work in The Highmark Business Innovation Center suite at the eCenter@LindenPointe, the first science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) startup business incubator in the region.
Those deemed to have the most promise:
- Fan Fizz, Connor Grieb, class of 2018.
- Free Feet, Matthew Leverknight, class of 2017.
- Kinbox: Karolina Lagerquist, Andrea Howe and Jordan Jensen, all class of 2016)
- Lunch Time: Haley Nerlich, Ashley Henderson, both 2016.
- Plant Chamber: Joshua Weatherstone, Ron Dornin, Samuel Emery, Lanze Heerdt, Matthew Freiwald, James Riel, Andrew Fischer, Ariel Wick, Will Stumpf, Chris Collins, Zachary Bentley, Dalaney Algiere, and Jessica Lunn, all 2015.
- Pocket Gnomes (Logan Hammerschmitt and Jonathan Graber, ‘16, and Zack Unkenholz, 20.
- Secure Communication Systems (Thomas Umhau and Samuel Blood, 2016.
- Shameless Plug (Steve Patterson, and Josh Logan, 2015.
