It’s Career Week at YSU Williamson College of Business
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Williamson College of Business Administration at Youngstown State University is hosting Career Week through Friday. Workshops and panel discussions are taking place in the atrium of Williamson Hall.
If students take the right steps in their career development such as internships, professional networking and effective job interviews, landing that first job should not be hard, event organizers say. A panel of employers will be available at 3 p.m. Wednesday to explain what they look for in new graduates and how students can increase their chances of landing their dream jobs.
Networking with professionals both locally and online allows students to learn about what is offered in the professions, and a professional acquaintance also can aid in getting a job interview. A workshop on developing and managing your career through social media will be held at 2 p.m. today.
Mini mock interviews will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday. Before their interviews, students should conduct research on their employers and be able to ask questions about the business/industry.
Students also need to learn how to write a professional and polished resume. A resume-writing workshop will be held at 2 p.m. today.
Panel discussions with alumni from accounting and finance/banking will take place Wednesday. Alumni in marketing, advertising, and public relations will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday and alumni in management, human resources, and management information systems will be available at 3 p.m. Thursday.
