Chamber Sets Intern Information Sessions
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber is hosting two information sessions and workshops March 8 and 15 to highlight a new internship/co-op program at Youngstown State University. The program centers on the fields of science, technology, engineering and math as well as business administration.
Eastern Gateway Community College, headquartered in Steubenville, is participating in the internship program as well.
The identical sessions will be held March 8 at the Holiday Inn-Boardman and March 15 at Leo’s Ristorante, Howland.
The breakfast sessions begin at 7:30 a.m. with an information session on YSU’s Program for Internships and Co-ops in Advanced Manufacturing and Related Industries and the opportunities to incorporate an internship or co-op program in a business or organization. Students from YSU’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) College and the Williamson College of Business Administration will be available for internships and co-ops along with students from Eastern Gateway, chamber officials said.
The info session will run until 9:30 a.m. and be followed by a workshop, Maximize Your ROI: Return on Intern, conducted by the Northeast Ohio Council on Higher Education, The workshops end at noon.
The university has received a $575,000 state grant to support internships in advanced manufacturing and other key industries. Through this grant, partial reimbursement is available for employers who provide career-related work experiences to STEM and business majors. The internships are expected to help students to find jobs after graduation and stay in the area.
